Packaging printing refers to the printing of various packaging materials.

Packaging involves the processes of creating containers, wrapping, packing, and decorating goods. It is a continuation of the production process in the distribution process and an indispensable condition for goods to enter the circulation and consumption sectors. The functions of packaging include: ① Realizing the value and use value of goods and serving as a means to increase their value; ② Protecting goods from natural elements such as sunlight, wind, rain, and dust, preventing losses due to evaporation, leakage, melting, contamination, collision, compression, spillage, and theft; ③ Facilitating storage, transportation, distribution, and sales in the distribution process, such as loading and unloading, inventory, stacking, shipping, receiving, transshipment, and sales counting; ④ Beautifying goods, attracting customers, and promoting sales.

Packaging refers to a series of activities involving the design and production of containers or wrapping materials. As a supporting service industry for the national economy, packaging has grown alongside China's socialist construction, especially since the reform and opening up. Under the socialist market economy, the packaging industry has developed rapidly, forming a relatively complete modern industrial system with paper, plastics, metals, glass, printing, and machinery as its main components, possessing certain modern technology and equipment. China's packaging industry has completed in just over 20 years what developed countries took nearly 40 years to achieve, fundamentally changing the situation of "first-class products, second-class packaging, and third-class prices." The packaging industry has evolved from a fragmented and backward sector into a complete industrial system with certain modern technology and equipment and relatively comprehensive categories. A significant characteristic of the current development of the packaging industry is the internationalization of the packaging market, the globalization of the packaging industry, and the increasing interdependence and interconnectedness of packaging industries in different countries.

Walking into a shopping mall, almost everyone understands what packaging is. However, once engaged in packaging design, one is often overwhelmed by the dazzling array of product brands, diverse packaging forms, and a cacophony of "advice," making it difficult to grasp the core concepts. Although various countries have provided concise and clear definitions of packaging, such as the United States defining it as: packaging is the preparatory work done for the shipment and sale of products; the United Kingdom defining it as: the art, science, and technology of preparing goods for transport and sale; and Canada defining it as: the tools used to deliver products from suppliers to customers or consumers while maintaining their integrity. my country has long defined packaging as: the general term for auxiliary materials used to protect products during distribution, facilitate storage and transportation, and promote sales.
